My Unforgettable Journey To Chandigarh

It was about a month ago when we made our special trip to Chandigarh. Actually, we have been planning this trip for a long time but for some reason, it got cancelled every time. But not at this time, finally we planned a 2-day trip to Chandigarh. Of course, we all were very excited because this was our first trip together. We wanted to explore all the famous attractions in Chandigarh but it was not possible in 2 days. So firstly we made a plan together for where we should visit. We were a group of 5 friends and we were travelling from Kaithal, Haryana. We were researching online where should we visit and how should we visit. We found that there is also an option of self drive car rental Chandigarh. It means we can rent a car there and can use it to travel everywhere. Truthfully it solved our most important problem. We were not familiar with the routes and transportation of Chandigarh. We were worried that most time would get wasted in buses and taxis to reach different destinations. But really self drive car helped us a lot to enjoy our trip. It was really budget-friendly and the main thing was that it gave us the freedom to explore the city. We made our navigation app ready and visited Chandigarh with full joy with our own music system. It was an excellent decision to rent a self drive car hire Chandigarh. I strongly recommend you hire a self drive car if you are also making a plan somewhere.

My experience of Self Drive Car Rental Chandigarh

We booked our self drive car 3 days before our trip. We checked online reviews and decided to go with Car4Hires as a lot of people find it reliable. The booking process was really very simple, we booked a swift directly from their website. The very impressive thing was that we could get the car anywhere we wanted, and they would deliver it. So we selected our pickup location as a bus stand of sector 17 because it was most convenient for us. We were starting our journey from Kaithal, Haryana, which is around 130 km from Chandigarh. We took a bus from Kaithal to Sector-17 Bus stand. There the car provider was already waiting for us. We showed him the necessary documents and some security deposits and took the car. Some benefits that I feel after using the self drive car are:

1. Flexibility: With a car rental Chandigarh, we have the freedom to set our own schedule and itinerary. We can explore Chandigarh at our own pace, stopping wherever and whenever we want.

2. Convenience: Self drive car hire Chandigarh provides convenience, as we do not have to rely on public transportation schedules or wait for taxis. We have the flexibility to start and end your journey as per our convenience.

3. Cost-effective: Renting a self drive car in Chandigarh can be more cost-effective than hiring a taxi or using other modes of transportation, especially if you are travelling with a group of people.

4. Comfort: Self drive car rental Chandigarh offers comfort and privacy, allowing us to travel in a familiar environment without having to share space with strangers.

5. Accessibility: Having our own car gives us access to places that might be harder to reach via public transportation, allowing us to explore more remote or off-the-beaten-path destinations around Chandigarh.

6. Safety: With a self drive car in Chandigarh, we have control over the vehicle, which can contribute to a sense of safety and security, especially during the ongoing pandemic when some people may prefer to avoid crowded public transportation.

8. Exploration: Chandigarh and its surrounding areas offer a wealth of attractions and natural beauty to explore. Having a self drive car allows us to venture out and discover hidden gems at our own pace.

Overall, self drive car hire Chandigarh provides us the freedom and comfort during the whole trip. we enjoy even the paths with our own music system. We can control and regulate AC as we want. In the end, it was an amazing experience while travelling with self drive cars.

About our trip to Chandigarh

We choose Chandigarh as our travel destination because of its popular name and popular attraction too. Also, it was not so far from us and it was easy to get there. We have not more than 2 days so we decided to explore the cleanest and 1st planned city of India. Chandigarh is a must-visit place because it's unique. It's not like other cities. So let's begin the journey to Chandigarh.

Day 1 in Chandigarh:

We left Kaithal at 6 am. It is about 130 km from our place and we reached Chandigarh at around 8:40 am. The self drive car was waiting for us there. We took the keys and drove straight to Mata Mansa Devi Temple.

Mansa Devi Temple: It is a very popular temple of Goddess Mansa Devi. I visited here many times here, luckily there was not so much crowd in the temple and we were easily free from here in around 1 hour. After that, we explored the local shops near the temple that has a lot of mixed variety of items. And then we were roaming around the temple to eat some food the we found 'Chole Bhature' on the street vendor. We decided to have breakfast there and then leave for our next destination. The taste of Chole Bhature was good according to its price. After having breakfast we headed toward the most famous place in Chandigarh 'Sukhna Lake'

Sukhna Lake: We took our self drive car and drove directly to Sukhna Lake. I was excited about boating on Sukhna Lake. After reaching there I found that it is really big. It is about 3 square kilometers and the fact about that lake is that it is man-made. It was made by blocking a stream in 1958. There were a lot of birds on the clear water which was an amazing view. Finally, we were ready for boating, and the boating experience there was fabulous. I did not want to stop paddling, I just wanted to spend a lot of time in the boat. I could feel myself in a big sea and a lot of greenery surrounding me. It was just a perfect experience. Also, we experienced a camel ride on Sukhna Lake which was a little terrifying experience. Sukhna Lake also has a lot of eateries and rides outside where you can enjoy. Overall the experience at Sukhna Lake was amazing and even we did not feel that we spent 2:30 hours on Sukhna Lake. It was around 2 pm when we left the lake. None of us were feeling hungry so we decided to head toward Rock Garden with our self drive car in Chandigarh. It is situated very close to Sukhna Lake.

Rock Garden: The Rock Garden is a must-visit place because it is like stepping into a magical world made of rocks and creativity. It is a garden full of sculptures, pathways, and artistic designs, all made from waste materials like broken tiles, bottles, and ceramic pots. This place is special because it shows how ordinary things can turn into extraordinary art. You can wander around, explore hidden corners, and be amazed by the intricate details of the sculptures. It is not just a garden; it is a place where imagination comes alive. Whether you are a nature lover, an art enthusiast, or just looking for a unique experience, the Rock Garden offers something for everyone to enjoy and be inspired by. I felt that everyone should visit that iconic place at least one time. It was 4 pm and we were already at Rock Garden. After that, we decided to Rose Garden for a kind of picnic.

Rose Garden: We have a lot of snacks and eatables with us, so we decided to head toward the Rose Garden to do a kind of picnic. Rose Garden is a beautiful place, it is in sector 16 and has lots of flowers and trees. There are about 825 kinds of flowers and 32,500 kinds of trees and shrubs that are used for medicine. People also call it the Zakir Hussain Rose Garden. It is named after a former president of India. The garden is spread over 30 acres and is very pretty. It is famous among tourists and people who love nature. We spent almost 2 hours here exploring beautiful flowers and after that, we stepped into the most famous market of Chandigarh - Sector-17 Market.

Sector-17 Market: Sector 17 Market in Chandigarh is worth visiting for various reasons. Firstly, it is a vibrant hub offering a mix of shopping, dining, and entertainment options. You can explore a wide range of shops selling everything from clothing and accessories to handicrafts and souvenirs. The market also boasts numerous eateries serving delicious local and international cuisines, satisfying everyone. Additionally, the market's well-planned layout and clean surroundings make it a pleasant place to stroll around and spend time with friends and family. Furthermore, Sector 17 Market is a cultural hotspot, often hosting events, exhibitions, and performances, providing visitors with a glimpse into the local culture and traditions. We do a little shopping in the market and after that, we have to eat something. It was around 9:00 pm and we were still in that market. After that, we decided to go to 'Hot Millions' for dinner. The food there was really delicious. And that was the end of our day in Chandigarh. We looked out for a nearby hotel for one night.

Day 2 in Chandigarh:

On Day 2 we decided to visit the zoo which is approximately 20km from Chandigarh. It is often called Chattbir Zoo but its full name is Mahendra Chaudhary Zoological Park. You need a whole day to explore that zoo because it is really big. Chhatbir Zoo sits in a peaceful forest area in Zirakpur. It has a variety wide variety of monkeys. The zoo is like a home for many animals including, tigers, lions, Elephants, birds, bears, crocodiles, snakes, deer, and many more.

Main attractions in the zoo

Wildlife Safari: Chhatbir Zoo has a cool Safari where you can drive through to see lions and deer. If you buy a ticket, you can ride in a special vehicle for about 30 minutes. First, you will go through the lion area where you might spot some lions hanging out in the forest. Then, you will head to the Deer Safari where you can see different kinds of deer. It is like going on an adventure and seeing big cats and friendly deer all in one trip!

Bird Park: Chhatbir Bird Park is the biggest place in India where you can walk around and see birds up close. It is part of Chhatbir Zoo, and if you have a ticket for the zoo, you can go into the bird park for free. Inside, there are seven different areas designed to look like different bird habitats, with about 60 kinds of birds from different parts of India and the world, like rainforests and forests in places like the Amazon and Australia. You can walk around safely inside for about half an hour and see birds of all shapes, sizes, and colors flying around like they would in their natural homes.

Reptile House: The zoo has a special area just for reptiles. Right now, it has six different kinds of reptiles on show: Python, Cobra, Rat Snake, Yellow Monitor Lizard, Common Monitor Lizard, and Checkered Keelback.

Dinosaur Park: Dinosaur Park at Chhatbir Zoo is special because it is the only one like it. It meets international standards for teaching people about dinosaurs. Chhatbir Zoo worked with the Altrview group to make this park happen through a partnership. It has life-sized, realistic, and moving robot dinosaurs on display. This park teaches visitors real and scientific facts about dinosaurs. It's designed to be fun and interactive, making learning about dinosaurs enjoyable for everyone who visits the zoo.

After all, it was the great experience of our whole trip and we were really tired because the trip was really big but it was the perfect experience. We have to go to secor-17 again to catch our bus. Self drive car rental Chandigarh really helped us a lot on that trip. We need not to worry about transportation. We reached the bus stand and the person there was waiting for us. We returned the car back and reached home safely at around 9:30 pm. This journey creates a lot of memories.
